Here’s your chance to talk to the animals and follow the trail of paws.
Jirrahlinga is a World Class Wildlife Sanctuary, delivering high standards of care, compassion and ethics to all of their animals, working towards the long-term sustainability of all wildlife and the environment.
You will enjoy a visit jam packed with exciting encounters, hosted by one of the Jirrahlinga Rangers – showing you some of their beautiful native animals that call the sanctuary home, including koalas, reptiles, kangaroos and birds to name a few. Meet a wombat, get a selfie with a snake or even get on the wild side of a friendly dingo.

Sunbury Seniors August Outing to Woop Woop Sculpture Garden, Harcourt
Here’s your chance to visit a beautiful garden with a laugh around every corner - eclectic sculptures depicting slang, sayings and well, anything that may get a laught.
Then off to Castlemaine, 8 minutes by bus down the road for a scrumptious lunch at The Cumberland Hotel.

Repair Cafe
Take an item that needs repair and volunteers will do their best to fix it.
Repair Cafe Sunbury meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month at Sunbury Neighbourhood House from 10 am to 12.30pm with the aim to link community repairers with community members to share skills and knowledge in repairing items and preventing landfill.

Love a challenge? Come along to a Beginners’ Cryptic Crosswords class. First appearing in the 1920s, a cryptic crossword is a crossword puzzle in which each clue is a word puzzle or, to quote Chambers, “mysteriously obscure”.

Let's Grow Hume Workshop
Winter veggie and herb gardening workshop
Join Jo Burton from Hume City Council's Sustainability Engagement team to reinvigorate and prepare the raised garden beds at Sunbury Neighbourhood House back garden for winter planting. This free workshop is open to all community members, and interested community members can harvest the beautiful fresh produce to share with their families and community.
This workshop covers:
soil preparation
when, what and how to plant in Winter for edible harvest
practical information on wicking garden beds and growing in pots
feeding and mulching your garden to help it survive through cold weather.
Participants will be planting:
Lettuce
Onions
Asian greens
Beetroot
Broccoli
Celery
Silverbeet
Plus companion herbs and flowers
All you need to know to start growing fresh produce at home!
Why Attend?
Hume City Council want to show you that we are listening. They’ve been told that you want more education about healthy food choices and fair access to nutritious food sources. The Council also knows that the cost of living is putting significant strain on many across our community and through the Let's Grow Hume project, they want to help you keep healthy food on your plate at home, despite increased costs of fresh, healthy food from the shops. Previously you've told Hume City Council that these type of programs help you feel connected and engaged with your community, and you enjoy meeting like-minded people.
And if you aren't quite ready to register - it gets better. By attending this workshop you can also register to go in the draw to win a ‘Ready to Grow’ kit, so that you have everything you need to continue your edible gardening journey at home. Hume City Council is so excited to show you how you can grow beautiful fresh produce at home without any garden space at all.

Emergency Preparedness for Seniors
A paramedic from Ambulance Victoria will be giving a presentation specifically designed for Seniors and Culturally and Racially Marginalised (CARM) groups, providing essential information on when to call an ambulance, how to respond in an emergency situation, and where to find resources for non-urgent health concerns. The session aims to increase awareness and confidence in handling emergencies, ensuring that all community members know how to take appropriate action when needed.
