Here’s your chance to cheer on your team and enjoy a fun-filled arvo with some passionate bowlers. The event promises to be loads of fun with plenty of banter and spirited play. Whether you're a seasoned bowler or just keen for a good laugh, everyone is welcome to join in.

A Support Session for the Bereaved

Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care (MCMPC) and the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) are partnering to provide you with some support.

Creating space for grief can be difficult on your own. Whether you’ve recently experienced loss or are supporting someone who is bereaved, we offer a space to gently gain reassuring information, ideas and resources that may be helpful as you manage life without your loved one.

It’s not group counselling, and you won’t be expected to share your own story but there will be space for you to ask questions and listen to others’ learnings.

This month’s guest speaker is a Community Engagement Officer from Melbourne Airport Corporation who will speak about the development of Melbourne Airport’s third runway.

Melbourne Airport’s third runway is a game-changer for Victoria, making travel easier and faster while boosting the local economy.

With passenger numbers forecast to almost double by 2042, the new runway will mean less waiting around, more flights in and out and more opportunities for everyone.

As part of the project, Melbourne Airport will tackle noise, share it fairly across communities and check in on local health for the long haul so everyone can enjoy smoother skies and quieter nights.

Sunbury Neighbour Day is officially taking place on Sunday 29 March 2026, but given Sunbury Seniors is not open on a Sunday, we’re planning to recognise this day on Monday 30 March 2026 at 12.30pm.

The idea of this event [well, from a Sunbury Seniors’ point of view], is to get to know your senior neighbours. Getting to know your senior neighbors not only helps build community, it makes life richer, easier, and safer for everyone. They can offer support, provide valuable insights about the neighbourhood, keep a watchful eye on your property, assist with taking-in parcels and even pet-sit while you're away!

With this in mind Sunbury Seniors is holding a pizza lunch for seniors [over 55] on Monday 30 March. Yep, there’ll also be hot chips on offer and a healthy option of a platter of fruit. It’s an opportunity to check us out and if you have a senior neighbour, feel free to bring them along. Cost will be $3 per head.

Many older parents continue to care for their adult children with an intellectual disability, even as they face the challenges of ageing themselves. These parents are confronted with the twin issues of their son or daughter’s uncertain future and possibly their own.

Parents of adults with intellectual disability often worry about:

Services strive to organise support, but they cannot duplicate the protection of a lasting committed relationship.

The Artrise Community Day is your opportunity to visit Sunbury’s revitalised former Women’s Refractory and Shed, which has been transformed into a creative facility, and meet the community groups and artists who will use the space.

You can tour the upgraded buildings, take part in creative activities, and enjoy exhibitions, displays and live performances. The day will also include the official opening of the new look out, led by Wurundjeri representatives.

This month we’ll be visiting Werribee Open Range Zoo, an African-themed zoo located in Werribee South. It is known for its open-range setting and a free guided safari bus tour where you can see animals like rhinos, giraffes and zebras roaming the savannah.

Marilyn Bray, President of Sunbury Family History & Heritage Society will be presenting a special PowerPoint session for our club members titled “Lost & Found: Celebrating the Things We Once Cherished”.

One of our long term members, Ray, will be celebrating his 90th birthday, marking an impressive milestone that deserves a proper knees-up.

Ray is about to join the Naughty Nineties Club and we reckon he’ll fit right in with his cheeky sense of humour and love of a good yarn.

We’re fond of Ray, not just for his friendly nature, but for his generosity and the way he always has time for a chat.

His passion is collecting clocks and Ray knows so much about clocks that he’s more than happy to fix anyone’s clock that’s not working. Just pay him in chocolates and he’s happy. You’ll often find him sharing stories about his favourite timepieces and passing on tips to anyone interested.

Given 90 is a milestone, come and join us celebrate Ray’s birthday and tuck into some homemade cake at 1pm. And just in case you’re wondering, Ray still plays carpet bowls twice a week. Bowling will take place after we’ve sung Happy Birthday.

We hope to see plenty of familiar faces there to help Ray ring in his big day in style!

Gone are the days when libraries were just hushed halls and towering shelves of books! These days, Hume Sunbury Library is buzzing with life, offering everything from craft and conversation to basic computer workshops for seniors, and best of all? Most activities won’t cost you a cent!

We’re excited to welcome Penny from our local Library, who’ll share all the goss about the What’s On program. Whether you’re keen to try your hand at chess or Mahjong or just fancy a chat over a cuppa, there’s something for everyone.

Ever thought sorting out your will or power of attorney was just for the oldies or for those with a mansion and a pet goldfish to leave behind? Think again! Our February guest speaker is Vanessa Bugeja from Nicholas James Lawyers in Sunbury. Her role in all of this is to clear things up and make the whole business a bit less daunting … and, dare we say, even a touch interesting.

Having a will isn’t just about who gets your footy cards or your prized garden gnome collection. It’s about making sure your wishes are heard and your loved ones aren’t left scratching their heads. And as for powers of attorney, they’re not just legal jargon. They’re about making sure someone you trust has your back if you can’t make decisions yourself. There are a few types of power of attorneys out there, so Vanessa will be breaking down which is which (without the legal mumbo jumbo).

So, come along for a natter, a laugh and some genuinely handy info. You’ll walk away with your questions answered and maybe a few myths busted. No legal degree required, just an open mind and maybe a cuppa in hand!

Our first monthly outing for the year! The Club organises a bus trip for its members on the first Wednesday of each month commencing from February through to November.

This month we’ll be visiting the Scienceworks [Museums Victoria]. Scienceworks makes science an adventure! Scienceworks is also home to the Melbourne Planetarium and the historic Pumping Station.

Bus leaves from Sunbury Community Centre, 531 Elizabeth Street, Sunbury at 9.30am sharp. Lunch will be a buffet all you can eat at Braybrook Hotel, Braybrook. Return to Sunbury around 3pm.
